Notre revue systématique en cours de la littérature sur les interventions de bien-être psychologique auprès des adultes autistes a souligné que le concept de bien-être a été mal opérationnalisé pour les personnes autistes dans la littérature clinique. Notre enquête vise à contribuer à une nouvelle revue de la manière dont les interventions de bien-être psychologique sont conçues pour les adultes autistes. Bien que les hypothèses autour de la définition de l’autisme aient été largement critiquées dans la littérature (Heasman & Parfitt, 2023), notre examen de 69 études a révélé que le concept de "bien-être", tel qu’il s’applique aux personnes autistes, a reçu relativement peu d’attention. Nous soulevons trois questions face à la simplification excessive actuelle du bien-être lorsqu’il est entendu comme un retour à un fonctionnement "normal" par la remédiation du mal-être. Nous suggérons qu’une voie à suivre consiste à adopter la théorisation contemporaine sur l’autisme (Chapman, 2021 ; Kourti, 2021) et sur l’expérience des vulnérabilités en matière de bien-être (van Os et al., 2019). Un examen de ce que l’on entend par bien-être autistique éclairerait les pratiques cliniques et de recherche.

Our ongoing systematic literature review of psychological well-being interventions for autistic adults highlighted that the concept of well- being has been poorly operationalized for autistic people in clinical literature. Our investigation aims to contribute a novel review of how well psychological well-being interventions are designed for autis- tic adults. While assumptions around the definition of autism have been critiqued extensively in literature (Heasman & Parfitt, 2023) our review of 69 studies found that the concept of “well-being”, as it applies to autistic people, has received comparatively little attention. We raise three issues with the current oversimplification of well-being when it is understood as a return to “normal” functioning through the remediation of ill-being. We suggest that a way forward is to embrace contemporary theorizing of both being autistic (Chapman, 2021; Kourti, 2021) and of experiencing wellness vulnerabilities (van Os et al., 2019). A review of what is meant by autistic well-being would inform clinical and research practices.
